Good diet and exercise don’t work alone in burning fat. They also activate different glands and organs, which activate hormones, which then burn fat. If you are exercising and eating healthy and you are still not able to lose weight than there might be a different reason which for this.
These are the most common types of weight gain:
- Adrenal Body Type
The adrenal glands are responsible for reacting when stress arises. If the adrenal glands are over stimulated and off balance they can also affect different functions in your body such as your sleeping cycle. They release a stress hormone which is known as cortisol. Studies have shown that high cortisol levels can cause weight gain especially in the area of the stomach. There are different natural ways which can reduce stress levels and lower cortisol. Yoga is one of these.
What are the symptoms?
- Obesity in the upper body area
- A round face and neck
- Thin extremities
- Muscle and bone weakness

- Liver Body Type
A proper functioning liver is essential for our well-being. Once the liver is not working properly, it can lead to weigh gain in the belly area. People with this body type usually suffer from blood sugar issues-diabetes, high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The toxins in the liver can also cause pain in the joints-arthritis, skin problems, allergies or body odor.
Liver disease can be genetic or caused by different factors such as viruses or alcohol abuse. In time, continuous liver damage can lead to liver failure which is a life-threatening condition.
- Thyroid Body Type
If you have a thyroid body type, this means that your thyroid gland controls your body’s energy usage. The thyroid gland produces hormones which regulate the metabolism and if it’s not working properly you’ll notice weight gain all over your body, even though you haven’t changed your diet in any way. Problems with the thyroid gland can lead to saggy skin, unusual body temperature and hair loss. Also, if your thyroid is not working properly, you’ll notice energy level drops and you’ll feel constantly tired. Women are mostly affected by thyroid gland problems which are related to the menstrual cycle, fertility and problems during pregnancy.
Symptoms of a slow thyroid gland:
- Constipation
- Weight gain
- Joint pain
- Muscle weakness and pain
- Sadness and depression
- Pale and dry skin
- Dry and thin hair
- Slow heart rate
- Puffy face
- Hoarse voice
- Ovary Body Type
If you suffer from hormonal imbalance, you most probably have a problem with the ovaries. People with this body type usually feel cravings for chocolate and dairy products and they might feel hot flashes, night sweats and weight gain in the lower part of the body.
The most common problems with this body type include: ovarian cancer, cysts and polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure or ovary twisting. If you notice any unexplained weight gain in the lower part of your body, changes in your menstrual cycle or ovarian pain consult your doctor immediately. A simple diet change might do wonders and balance your estrogen levels.
